User Account Deletion Request

You only have a VpnHood! account if you signed in to buy or restore a subscription. You can permanently delete it, and the personal data linked to it, in two ways:

1. In the app (fastest): open the Account page in the latest version of the app and choose Delete my account.

2. On the web, without the app: sign in to the account portal and choose Delete my account. If you have never set a password, use Forgot password with the email address you signed in with.

What deletion does: your account, the sign-in identity behind it and your email address are erased from our servers, and every sign-in session is revoked. Premium granted by the account ends on every device; a premium code you own — one you typed in yourself, or one you bought on our website — is yours and keeps working until the period you paid for ends. Nothing blocks the deletion: services billed by our website are cancelled at the end of their paid period, unpaid invoices are cancelled, and your stored payment method is removed. It cannot be undone. Signing in again later creates a new, empty account.

Save your codes. Before anything is erased, we show you every premium code you paid for, one last time, and send one final email carrying the same codes. Keep them: after deletion we can no longer look them up for you, and a saved code works anywhere, years later.

What deletion does not do: it does not cancel an app-store subscription by itself. Where we are able to stop future renewals for you, deletion offers that as a choice and tells you what actually happened; otherwise only you can cancel, in the store that billed you, before or after deleting. A subscription whose payment recently failed is still open and can start charging again once the payment method works. Cancel it in the store if you do not want that. A subscription that is still running remains yours: create a new account in the app and use Restore purchase to attach it again.

Invoices are kept because tax law requires it, for as long as that law requires, and are used for nothing else. They keep the name they were issued with, frozen exactly as issued and locked out of ordinary use. Residual copies of your data may remain in our server logs and backups for up to 30 days, after which they expire.
