Roles
Everyone on a VpnHood! MANAGER project has one role, which decides what they can see and change, from only looking at the project to managing its team. Bots, for scripts that use MANAGER's API, get a role the same way.
Where to find them
Open Settings and select Team. Team Members lists the people and bots on the project, each with a Role. Select one to open their page, where you change their role or remove them. Only a Project Admin or a Project Owner sees it.
The roles
Each role can do everything the one above it can, and more:
- Project Reader sees the project: its servers, farms, access keys and usage. It cannot copy an access key, change anything or see the team.
- Access Token Writer also creates, changes and deletes access keys, and copies them to give out.
- Project Writer also adds and installs servers, and manages farms, certificates, server profiles and the project's settings: everything but the team.
- Project Admin also manages the team: it adds people and bots, changes their roles and removes them, but cannot make anyone an owner or change an owner's role.
- Project Owner also makes people owners, and changes or removes other owners.
Add a person
Under Team, select Add User, enter the email address the person signs in to MANAGER with, and select OK. They join as Project Reader: open their page to give them the role they need. For someone already on the team, MANAGER keeps their role and says so: change it on their page.
MANAGER does not email them, so tell them yourself. The project is in their list once they sign in to MANAGER with that address, with Google or with an email and password. Until they open it, the team sees only their email address.
Change a role
Open the person's page, edit their Role, choose the new one and select OK. A person has one role, so the new one replaces the old.
Remove a person
Open their page and select Delete, then Yes. They lose access to the project, and keep their MANAGER account and their own projects.
The owner
Whoever creates a project is its owner, and a project can have several. An owner cannot remove themselves or change their own role, so a project always keeps one.
To hand a project over, make the new person a Project Owner: they can then change your role or remove you.
Bots for the API
A bot is a member for a script or a service that uses MANAGER's REST API rather than the web panel. It has a name, a role, and an API key in place of a sign-in.
Under Team, select Add Bot, name the bot and select OK. MANAGER shows its key once, under API Key, as the value of an Authorization header: copy it then. The bot joins as Project Reader: give it the role its work needs, any but Project Owner.
If a key leaks, open the bot's page and select Reset API Key: the bot gets a new key, and the old one stops working at once. Deleting the bot stops its key too.
