How it works
UDP is the lightweight option and usually the fastest, though some networks restrict it. TCP is the reliable one: slower in theory, but it gets through where UDP does not. QUIC is a modern protocol over UDP, faster again where it is allowed.
When to turn it on
Switch when a network is slow or refusing to connect. Try UDP first for speed and TCP when something is in the way. Blocking QUIC makes apps fall back to standard streaming, which can improve video playback in Cloak Mode.
What it costs you
Nothing but a reconnect. The protocol is a per-connection choice, so you can try another the moment one underperforms.
