VpnHood! CLIENT - Privacy Policy

Effective: 2026-08-31.

OmegaHood LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is the controller of the data described in this policy. This policy applies only to the official VpnHood! CLIENT app.

Data We Collect

Except on iOS, the app uses Google Analytics through Firebase to collect pseudonymous usage and diagnostic data. The data is linked to a Client ID, not to your name or contact details. It may include:

  • the Client ID;
  • app version, language, operating system, device model, and browser engine;
  • app launches, screens used, session duration, and connection results; and
  • technical error messages shown by the app.

Google may derive a general location, such as country, from the IP address used to send an analytics event. We do not send browsing history, websites visited, traffic content, or traffic volume to Google Analytics.

The Client ID is a one-way hash that includes the app’s identity. It is not a serial number, phone number, or advertising ID. On iOS and Linux, it is based on a random value created on first launch, so reinstalling the app produces a new Client ID. On Android and Windows, it is derived from an identifier the operating system already provides, so it may remain the same after reinstalling the app; on Android it changes when the device is factory reset, and on Windows it follows your Windows user account.

Analytics is controlled by Settings → Privacy → “Share anonymous usage data”. Turning it off stops analytics and is remembered for later launches. The iOS build does not load Google Analytics or Firebase and does not send analytics or reports to Google.

Reports You Choose to Send

On supported non-iOS builds, you may choose to send a rating, feedback, or a diagnostic log through Google Firebase. Nothing is sent automatically. A report may contain the technical log, the text you enter, and an email address only if you choose to provide one. The local log otherwise stays on your device.

Network addresses in a sent log — yours, and those of the servers your device connected to — are replaced by tokens using a key created inside the app that is never saved and never sent with the file, so the copy we receive cannot be turned back into addresses by us or by anybody else. Local network addresses stay readable, as they identify nobody.

VPN Servers Are Separate

VpnHood! CLIENT includes no VPN server or access key. The independent operator of the server you choose handles the VPN connection under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive, control, or retain that operator’s server data through CLIENT.

Why We Process Data

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for analytics and reports where consent is required, and otherwise on our legitimate interest in understanding app performance, fixing faults, and responding to messages you send. We may also process specific information when required by law or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.

Retention

Analytics is kept under the retention setting configured for our Google Analytics property and is then deleted or aggregated. A report or message you send is kept until the issue is resolved and then only as long as reasonably needed for support, security, or a legal claim.

Service Provider and International Transfers

Google LLC processes analytics and voluntary reports for us through Google Analytics/Firebase on supported non-iOS builds. We are based in the United States, and Google may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, international transfers use a recognized safeguard, such as an adequacy decision or approved standard contractual clauses.

Your Privacy Rights

CLIENT has no user account, identity document, or personal profile that we can provide to you. We normally cannot identify you from the pseudonymous analytics we receive. You can stop future analytics at any time in Settings → Privacy. If you contact us with a Client ID or report that you previously sent, we will handle any deletion or objection right that applies and that we can reasonably verify. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Android Permission

On Android, QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES lets you choose which installed apps use or bypass the VPN.

Children’s Privacy

The app is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete it. A parent or guardian may contact us below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the app, law, or our practices change. We will post the updated policy and change the Effective date. The repository keeps the change history.
