VpnHood! CLIENT Privacy Policy

What VpnHood Clients & Server Collect

VpnHood! CLIENT, VpnHood! CONNECT and VpnHood servers collect anonymous analytics data, such as technical information, and send them to Google Analytics. This data is anonymous and does not relate to user information or devices. An example of this data is the number of times that app is run, acting by a menu item, operating system version, and device model information. Our open-source code ultimately shows that we don’t send any user identifiable anywhere.

Technical information

  • VpnHood Client Unique Device ID. This ID is generated by hashing app-device-id and app-id
  • Advertisement ID (VpnHood! CONNECT only)
  • VpnHood version and build number
  • Country
  • Locale
  • OS name and version
  • Phone model (if applicable)
  • Session start and end time
  • Browser
  • Architecture
  • The number of bytes sent and received

Note: This applies only to the software; tracking depends on the VpnHood server you connect to. See the “Log Data” section.

Log Data (Applicable if you connect to an official VpnHood server)

Note: This section is not applicable if you set up a private VpnHood server.

We don’t know how some VPN companies claim they don’t keep any logs and then create terms of service that mention they would detect unlawful activity and suspend accounts!

We want to inform you that whenever you connect to any official VpnHood server, such as VpnHood Global Servers, we collect information your VpnHood client sends us, called Log Data. This Log Data includes technical information in the previous section, plus:

  • User email and public information (if you log in)
  • User IP Addresses and user activity (Vpnhood server source port and timespan) for 30 days
  • Parts of User IP Addresses such as 200,150.44.x

User Activity

For user activity, we must log the time and client endpoint (IP address and port) with a VpnHood Client Unique Device ID and keep it for 30 days. We do not back up these log files. If the server hosting sends us “Notices of Claimed Infringement,” we use these log files to find, notify, or suspend user accounts.

Important! We do not save your destination endpoints, such as the domain, URL, or IP address you are browsing,

You should know that we keep user activity in VpnHood server log files, not our database. However, our database stores technical information associated with VpnHood Client Unique Device ID and user email (if available).

If you don’t like this policy, you need to set up your server and install a VpnHood server, but we believe you will encounter the same problem with your server hosting.

Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

  • To facilitate our service
  • To provide the service on our behalf
  • To perform service-related services
  • To assist us in analyzing how our service is used

We want to inform our service users that these third parties can access users’ Personal Information to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

Android Permissions

The QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission allows the user to select which apps allow/disallow the use of the VPN.

Children's Privacy

Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect identifiable personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete it from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and know that your child has provided us with personal information, please get in touch with us so that we can take the necessary actions.

Client Feedback & Bug Report

The VpnHood client allows you to submit feedback or a log file to us to solve client technical issues. Their email field is optionally available if you would like our response. We also put some basic information in the client’s log file but automatically remove sensitive client log information, such as client IP, that doesn’t require debugging. Please see the item "Technical Information" to see what data we collect.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
